I'll try to page everyone that we are unsure of. I agree that badass trygve could also be in div 1, but then kop/norules and raket/vvd would not follow far behind. And we need someone strong to off-weight dop/grc - especially because Badass and Trygve are much more likely to put down more prac time to get better.

Lethalwiz/Rio is also on the border a bit, but I think they will be able to give 3b, p!ing, EK a good fight.

regarding * fe 'Fatal Error' - cosmos
- dopeskillz - yes, they are a strong team , but would they not be by far the worst team in div2? Perhaps they would give * SS 'Supersonic Sexmachines' - Jissse
- NPH1337 a good fight, but after that wouldn't their experience be quite boring in div2? For me it seems more likely that they fit better in div3 as a potential winner of div3.

Eventhough many would like a big league, it will be difficulty if we drag the preliminary rounds out for to long as some people might lose interest if they have to play 9-10 teams(?)

Rio might like this, and I actually would as well prefer a much longer and bigger divisions, but slightly concern we won't be able to finish before people go mia around new years/christmas time. Bogo all ready mentioned he might have problems showing up if tournament drags out to long, and I'm sure others are in the same boat with him on that.

We got some late rookie teams so we could restructure making a div4 - There still possible to to rework how many divisions we have if you provide your own suggestions
But ye, ill try to contact all the boarder teams and see where they are comfortable.

Tournament will probably start this friday/saturday.

31.10.2015:: Division suggestions::

I built on and modified Verro's Division suggestions just slightly and made this, its pretty much very similar to what he first made, good job Verro !

The problem, like all tournaments, mostly lies I think in the boarder teams - Feedback required, you have a few days..

Ask yourself questions like these please if you give feedback, and try to evaluate the entire division as a whole - what sticks out as not fitting? And how would you solve it ::
Div 2 with 6 teams - who would you promote to div2 (from div3) to make 7 teams in div2 ?

Is it justified to put - andeh - feffe - LocKtar in div 1?

Are * 020 '020' - Dopas - grc to strong for div2?

As I fiddled around trying to make 4 divisions with more equal skills it became very empty at the lowest tier to keep somewhat of equal skills as we lack rookie teams to fill..

22.10.2015 post::
Heres the rules overview so far::

here's the fixed one:

2v2 TEAMDEATHMATCH

- Teams will be put in the division/groups according to their skillset.

- Matches in the groupstage are bo3
- Playoffs are bo5

How selection of what maps to play work in each division:

- Division one, and division one only, will be using the "toss away map" technique:

Type "/cmd rnd teamname1 teamname2" in console to choose who tosses away map first.
Both teams then alternate removing maps until five maps have been removed from the pool.
The loser of the /cmd rnd decided what map to play first of the two remaining.

In a tie: The last map tossed away is the decider map in a tie.

For Playoff(brackets) play: Same method, less maps tossed away. Three maps are tossed away, and the decider is the last map tossed away. The loser of the /cmd rnd picks first map to play of the remaining maps in pool, teams alternate picking of remainder of pool.

- Division two and lower will be using a "Pick map" technique:

Type "/cmd rnd teamname1 teamname2" in console to decide who picks first map from the pool of seven maps.
In a tie: (1-1) In a tie situation each team removes two maps each from the remaining five maps. The map remaining after four maps have been dropped is the decider map.

For playoffs(brackets) Same method, players alternate picking their map.
In a tie (2-2): Each team removes one map from remaining pool, and the decider is the last map remaining.

- The maximum size of a team consists of 3 players.
- Take screenshots and demos of your games

- HowTo signup f/t league!

www.refragged.com.

* Register on site
* Create team
* Hand out the team password to their team member(s) so they can join, this is done via the team profile page which now has a bright blue "JOIN TEAM" button
* Team owner then signs up the team on the tournament page
* Team owner also has to define a tournament squad, there is a link for this on the tournament menu called "Manage Squad"

* Ping rules:
A "fair server" is required:
Depending where the majority of players hail from; the EU vs America games will be played on the continent where the majority resides. (example: We get majority of EU players, EU vs America games are played on UK server) This will be specified when tournament starts, so you don't have to wonder.

- The team with highest average ping can demand the low ping team to ping up. The maximum ping up is to a total of 90ms.

If both players ping higher than their opponent, the lower ping players pings up to the lowest ping on the high ping team.

(No players are required to ping higher than 90ms if they can ping lower).

(Example: Team A pings 120 60, Team B pings 120 120. The '60' ping player pings up to 90 so team A has 120 90.)

The ping rules can be applied to everyone, no matter where the players come from. (Even on lower pings players can demand a ping up to even out the average. Everything within 5ms is considered OK.

* General fair play rules from other QW tournaments apply here as well, if your not aware of them, here they are:

All rule breaches will, depending on severity, result in one of these four: A player warning, a team warning, a player ban or a team ban.

*New rule - /GL_Outline must be set to 0.

/ruleset must be set to Smackdown (it can be set in the Options -> Player menu.

- No movementscripts (ezquake: cl_idrive must be OFF)
No kfjump or other custom rocketjump scripts or any other kind of movement scripts are not allowed.
This includes mouse macros and third party macro programs.

- Teamoverlay - If ONE team does not want to play with teamoverlay, teamoverlay must be turned off - Suggestion: If you like playing with team overlay ON, stop liking it as the majority of QW does not use or like it.

- No Automated team says

- No radar

- No enemy skin changing depending on health/armour/weapon.

- Clients must respond with All models OK on a f_modifed check.

- Any kind of cheat (wallhack, aimbot, timers or hacked clients

- No Coaching, (timing quad and other items, relaying enemy positions and giving teamplay suggestions, typically over MM3)

(Original rules taken from EQL.nu.)

Signups OPEN! http://refragged.com/

- Any future news about the tournament will be listed on the refragged site - questions can go on this thread though.
- If you don't have a team, you can sign up as a free agent by telling Verro or Ocoini.

Ake Vader wrote:
If you're not already familiar with the site, the procedure goes something like this:
  • Register as a user on the site, this will be your own account and can in the future be used for other tournaments hosted on the site
  • Login
  • Register a team (you have a link for this when you are logged in)
  • Set a password for your team, this shall then be handed out to the teammate(s) you are going to play with. They will be able to see a "Join team" button on the team profile page. When clicking it, they are asked to supply the password. If it's correct they get added to the team's main squad.
  • Sign up your team for the tournament itself, this is done on the tournament section clicking the "Sign up" link
  • After having signed up you also need to define your tournament squad, this is done on the tournament page clicking the "Manage squad" link. Here you get to choose what players from your main squad that shall be participating in this tournament. Naturally it should be everyone. This is also where you request new player additions later in the tournament (if it's allowed) and admins have to approve the players etc.

First a word from our sponsor:

<veRRo> Im gonna try to keep this as brief as possible for you all, cause most of you don't like to read a lot of writing, they just want to know what the point/message is of these words!
Since EQL20 has started and i played some more QW. I'm liking the game more and more, and the community is also really nice. Therefore i sat down with ocoini and we both agreed on launching a new 2v2tdm competition for you all qwtdm players out there.
I hope there are enough teams that are gonna sign up so we can create some division. In this way the games can be a bit more enjoyable for everyone.
We'll also gonna try to get a streamer with casters for the semis and the final games.

So off we go!
Yay! This is gonna be epic!

We have undecided factors you guys can give us feedback on:

What does your dream pool of 2on2 maps look like, does it Include Kenya?
Ladder? Brackets?
Best of 3? Best of five from semi and out?
Deadlines for playing games?
Open it up for more than 2 members on a team? Maybe 3-4 maximum per 2on2 team?
Talk to us!

Gonna get this going fast, with probably around three weeks of signup time and games start around 23'rd of October.

Tell your friend: You gotta play some 2on2!™

24.09.2015 post::

You can all start with registering an account on http://www.refragged.com/ now all ready.
I'll provide a detailed explanation later if its proving hard for people but here is the a quick guide to signing up as a team on the site:
First create a team, set a team password. Other players will now be able to join your team by going to the team page, pressing join team, and entering the password. The person that created the team will then be the one that signs up to the tournament.

Here is Verro's draft for the rules and player information :

Teams: Each team will have a maximum size of three players.
- Teams will be put in the division/groups according to their skill set.

Structure - Ladder into playoffs (brackets).

Mappool: ztndm4, a2, q3dm6qw, ztndm6, dm2, ztndm3 & Aerowalk.

- Matches in the groupstage are bo3 (- playoffs are bo5)
- Each team picks their map. First pick is decided with cointoss.
Type /cmd rnd teamname1 teamname2 in console to choose who picks first.
- At a 1-1 score: The team that has the least amount of frags over the 2 maps, drops first map from remaining map pool.
Ping rules: Both player ping up to the lowest high ping opponent. With a maximum of 70ms.

25.09.2015 post Verro:
Oke as i See It now with soms feedback ill change the mappool back to the Original maps with a small addition of Kenya map.
SO maps are: Dm2 - dm4 - dm6 - ztndm3 - Aero - ztndm6 and q3dm6qw 'thz big version'.
Thx already for the feedback.

Can we have an open map pool? ie. Any map.

Would like to see something a bit different than tb3 tb5 and give the "underdogs" a chance to get a win or 2 on a map they can specialise in etc :p

"Cute"... dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing?

What about team signs up and declares map choice at sign up and then there can be no unfair surprises. ie. cosmos & yamazaki - dm2

How about follow champions league format? small leagues with say 5 teams top 2 qualify for knockout.

My 2¢:
  • Map pool of at least 7 maps. TB5 + x. God, it was so refreshing playing some Kenyas again recently. We got lions! Make a poll or something of which kenyas to add.
  • BO3 for every game except the grand final, which should be BO5. Or maybe BO5 in the playoffs
  • Ladder with divisions, with Playoffs afterwards. The ladder shouldn't run for too long, and all the playoffs should be played on the same day.
  • Tossing instead of picking maps! That way teams that absolutely loathe playing kenyas, can avoid some or all of them. Players like me who absolutely loathe DM2 and DM6 don't have to play that shit. When each team in turn have tossed their maps, the remaining 3 (5 in the playoffs or finals) maps are played.
  • I see no reason to have more than 3 players maximum on one team, since it would be better to have 2 teams then instead. But 3, sure, why not?

great stuffs!

Consider using not-so-common rules, like
  • a team chooses a map NOT to play. (edit: in other words, tossing)
  • fraglimit instead of timelimit
  • berserk mode in the match end ?
  • hoonymode 2on2? does it work?
  • extended map pool (it has been already suggested).

looking forward to it!

edit:
allowing 2-3 balanced players in each team imo is the way to go.
Am i the only one tired of tb3 ?
ping rules: i suggest best server for both teams and games should be played with less than 40ms ping difference between the players
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

I agree with 7 map-pool and tossing, but let's not go too far with fraglimits 7 hooneymodes or whatever.

Andeh that would be really awsome if you would be able to cover the end of 'all the divisions'.
For my personal taste 'the end' would be semis and grand final, is that possible for you to cover andeh?
i also hope that there will be alot of signups so we can create as many divs as possible.

greetings.

Awesome!! We're long overdue for a good 2on2 tournament, thanks for making it happen. TB5 and perhaps a couple of other maps would be good. Skull is fun and intense (like a miniature aerowalk).

I don't think most teams will want to have more than 2 players, but I could be wrong.

There was already semi-extensive discussion on the thread right next to this one where I (and others) presented our suggestions. The discussion was actually missing input from players like you (low ping European, high skill). I did not want to rehash or restart the discussion here.

The truth is that ping rules would not matter (and won't) if the status quo was that players respect one another.

a2 is more of a Clan Arena-map.

I would advise to use these maps: dm2, dm4, dm6, ztndm3, aerowalk, skull, bravadob5 (perhaps switch dm6 with one of the kenyas, but definitely not a2)

I do not think many teams would sign up to such a crazy pool of maps. Adding 2 maps to the regular pool seems reasonable, not make it an entire kenya tournament. But I guess that's up to whoever organizes it.

I voiced similar concerns to Verro - about tb5, and I believe he's still open to altering the pool. His argument is however that in his experience many players don't sign up because the older players have more experience on the established maps. I have no real counter argument to this other than what I told him that DM4 and DM6 will be missed by many players. He also considered DM4 OR Aerowalk, but decided for Aerowalk instead of DM4.

Personally I don't mind any maps at all - and love the pool - but I would have no problems with any pool, so my view on this is not to be taken to much consideration into i think - And so it's good that we get feedback on the pool =) And I'm sure Verro will be open to changing the pool if he gets convinced =)

This is of course a draft to the rules, nothing is set in stone yet.

I think with Dev's tournament increasing the lowest ping, and this one going to 70ms, its a step in the right direction.

The truth is that ping rules would not matter (and won't) if the status quo was that players respect one another.

I think with Dev's tournament increasing the lowest ping, and this one going to 70ms, its a step in the right direction.

But why, why, why keep dm2 when both dm4 and dm6 are ditched?

Yeah that map pool does not make sense. Many many players wont participate if there is no DM4 which is always THE starter map of 2on2 games.

DM2, DM4, DM6 are must and then aero + ztndm3 + pair of kenyas if you want them.

Taking DM2, DM4, DM6 away from 2on2-tournament is like having a nice car that has no engine.

I vote for leaving dm4 and dm6 in, to keep certain folk happy but to also have a selection of kenya to freshen it up. Haters gonna hate.

The part about it being possible to create a user already is true, however you're not able to create/join teams yet as i have not deployed the newest version of the site in the sharp environment. Will probably do it this weekend.

Don´t forget about bravado and exile, they are very modern (unlike dm6), action packed (unlike dm2) and fun (unlike aerowalk).

Can you give me the exact map names of the versions you mean?

Personally I don't understand what is wrong with A2 or whatever map... ^_^

bravadob5 I believe it´s called, on qw2.irc.ax servers. The exile one should be up on quakephil iirc, the latest version should be good.
