The following QWfwd is in Amsterdam:

ocean.outofplace.ru:30000
http://www.quakeservers.net/quakeworld/server_status/3707/

I've noticed that many servers, especially those north of the Netherlands, will try to use this specific QWfwd as it will get the best pings however any server I connect to via this QWfwd gets me around 5-10%PL.

Does anyone know who manages or runs this QWfwd?

I don't know who runs the QWfwd but the server seems to be a VPS from DigitalOcean.

I think the easiest option will be for me to simply create a Null route to 198.199.125.170 on my computer or router so I can still use sb_findroutes 1 and not have to worry about using this QWfwd.

Also now that, unfortuantely, the Netherlands Froschroom servers were taken down there is a big gap with no antilag servers and no decent QWfwd in NL so I might setup a server in Amsterdam again with a QWfwd

it was sad that the Netherlands froschroom server had to go, but I had to save some money somewhere to finance the new uk server
If you're going to host a NL based server, seedhost.eu was pretty good for the money. The base spec dedicated servers are really old hardware (Intel E2160!) but the price is right, and it was more than enough for several qw ports, a qwfwd etc.. They also do VPS, but the latency is a couple of ms higher.

What were you paying there?

Previously I had servers setup on yisp.nl and for 10eu/month I could do 1-2 KTX and a QWfwd (and this is a VPS)

The base spec dedicated server is 35eur/month, not bad for a dedicated server with unlimited bandwidth. I think their VPS are around the 10eur mark, but I can't vouch for their quality.

OK, I've setup a KTX and QWfwd... I've also submitted them to quakeservers.net

nl.besmella.com:28501 - KTX 1
nl.besmella.com:28502 - KTX 2
nl.besmella.com:30000 - QWfwd

Glad to know i wasn't the only one having this problem with this qwfwd. After the successful testing last night I added a second KTX port.

I think this fills the gap after the Froschroom NL servers were taken down as they were the only good KTX with Antilag in NL. There is some other ones called Escaflowne but for some reason they ping about 5ms higher that other NL servers.
