Was looking around my old Quake dir and found some commentary demo packs for NQR4 & 5. I'd like to repost them as they feature some 5 map classics between clans like CMF, DS and SR. However, they are in .qwz (spec) and .mp3 format so not the most user-friendly for modern audiences (manual sync on countdown needed etc).

Anyone got decent settings/hud and willing to convert them to video and put on youtube or similar?

These videos should be added to qw.nu youtube imo

Maybe try Jisse's movie config? should be easy to set this up.

A tutorial on how to do this would be nice. I wouldn't mind doing some, if i knew how to do it.
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks Jisse. Files are a bit big for email so I've uploaded NQR5 here: http://wikisend.com/download/643834/NQR5final.zip

For reference these games were played in 2003 - Sassa is co-commentator.
There was no teamoverlay back then, so probably by modern standards commentary is probably quite bland, a lot of giving info about what is happening elsewhere on the map which you don't need any more.

It would have worked by mail, but thanks for the upload !
Now, do i need to capture that on 320*180 software mode so it feels more "faithful" ?

I can't work on it, looks like the files are all broken when capturing long demos with ezquake...
Maybe someone with a more powerful computer can try, I already lost some nights on that shit and I have other stuff to do now...

I can give it a try I guess. Do you just use Fraps or something to capture the games Jissse?
Also could you or Hangtime upload the games somewhere again (or send to koffikapp at gmail dot com)? Looks like the previous download link is broken.

I only use the demo_capture command of ezquake, but maybe through some other software it would work better...
I reuploaded the pack here, thanks Kaffi

Hm, maybe someone has these games in another format? As I realized ddk has commented on one of the games and the demo has modern features like itemsclock, teaminfo, healthbars etc: link

edit: found them on Spirit's reupload of Challenge-TV to archive.org here

I'll have to work today and tomorrow but I can try to get the games uploaded this weekend hopefully.

By the way, do people have any preferences as to how they want the videos to look?

This is how my QW currently looks, with a few things cheekily copied from ddk's setup:

Is that ok? Anything I should add/remove? Make it more faithful/modern etc?

looks fine, maybe slightly lower fov for a video, and povo5 may be a better choice for a font (better visibility).

Would love to see these -- thanks to HT & kaffi.

Thanks also for the archive.org link, kaffi -- that's an absolute goldmine for us old-timers who have lost more demos than we've held onto
