New version of ezQuake has been released today. The most important news
for everyone is: it has compatible security module! Grab the build here:

and security module here:

Other things this new build brings are for example coloured text, long
awaited jump fix for independent physics and auto demo conversion to
qwz and mvd. New better scripting options with TCL support (!).
Texture packs lovers will appreciate paks.lst and .link features.
There is also new load of MultiView Demo support - Powerup cams and
MVD Moreinfo. In this build you can also fully customize gameclock size,
style and placement and change the text displayed in the taskbar while
ezQuake is minimized. Download speed-meter has been added.
Also there has been some usual modernisation of menus and default
values of some variables. We also include a 24bit charset and HUD icons
since this release. And there is finally ez-styled conback and icon!
For other new things in this release like cl_rollalpha, r_shiftbeam, QTV
support and new triggers see the full changelog:

... has been cracked.

You forgot to remove the Fuhquake version number from the window title in the GLX client

Edited by JohnNy_cz: Rest of the post moved to ezQuake security module also cracked.

i would suggest a moderator cuts bigfoot's post and def's reply and this reply and moves them into another topic entitled 'ezQuake cracked?'. I feel it is in poor taste to post this on the 'NEWS' topic for the ezquake release and discussions should be kept seperate.

edit JohnNy_cz: rest of the post moved to ezQuake security module also cracked

oldman: it doesn't seem like there's a way to cut posts from a topic. The only options are move/delete/edit.

Because security issue is not only matter of ezQuake 1517, also not only matter of ezQuake...
bigfoot wrote:
This method breaks both current Fuhquake and ezQuake

... I've decided to move (edit & quote) posts related to this to new topic in the Client Talk - see ezQuake security module also cracked. I'm not doing this to somehow 'hide' the talk. I'm doing this to start some serious discusssion.

In this topic, keep posting your experiences and suggestions related to the newest 1517 ezQuake release.

I like that you can alt + * for special charactors again, I missed that and the $lastip thing is a nifty idea.

On a vaguely related note, how come capslock doesn't actually change case and never has in any version of quake? There's probably a smarty man reason for it. I dislike having to hold down shift to write out hilarious compound insults in capitals in moments of anger.

Perhaps in can be included as a new feature, toggled by a cl_capsangerspam switch or something.

Other than that, keep up the good work and the arguing about security tarballs and what not, I need stuff to read at work

I think its made that way so that you can bind it. Using caps is gay anyway :S

This is not newbiefriendly.

This error shouldnt occur at all if u want newbies joining the community. And why cant u remove the drawviewmodel and the set the fov in the menu? I have NO idea how to find out the commands unless i wanna browse manuals.. who has time for that nowadays. Tia.

FOV is already adjustable from menu. Download bug will be fixed in next release. Manuals are good. Menus are better, we know it and we'll try to improve them.

Those are copyrighted but you could try getting the ones from the shareware version of Quake. Should work ok. That's how it's done in the fQuake package (think link is broken though).
