Hi all, first time here, and first time I've looked at quake in a LONG time. Was wondering if theres many UK players still about, and if so, many from the old days? I played for quite a while, from original qw in 96, up until tribes came out, and took over my gaming time, and then somehow drifted into mmo's for some years (still not sure how that happened..). Looking to get back into FPS gaming now, and pulled QW off an old HD and had a go.. Apart from me not having a clue how to move and shoot anymore, it still feels slicker than the few fps demos ive tried recently so I think I'll give it a try, and was interested if anyone I might know was still playing.

Hello and welcome back! I suppose Andro is oldest (still alive) UK-QW player around, you can find him on our irc channel #Mofo.
And you're very welcome to our team if you want, just ask somebody on #mofo, we're sort of a QW-academy ( http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/Mob_of_Oddballs )

I see the following oldschool British players playing from time to time:

Andro
Darff
Funk
Kelbv
SkiNNeR
Ser

One thing you can do if you remember any nicks is look them up on http://stats.quakeworld.nu , although if it is a 'common' nick that may have a lot of false positives

In total there is probably around 10-20 active UK players, hard to judge because some players just play ffa or 1on1 with friends, in fact there are probably a few randoms who just play on quake.xs4all.nl so the total number may be higher.

hi yes. i play time to time, more recently in Mob Of Oddballs. I went away in around 1999, and only came back around 18 months ago. Its great fun and always will be. not sure i remember your nick. Sounds familiar though. Hangtime is right, theres probably a few UK players playing now. maybe around 20 ish at a guess, mostly FFA and 1on1. and most have changed their nicks. Its great fun to get back in to. Although im kinda inactive at present until after xmas. no time to play at moment. Its pretty slick now beware!

Aye, don't be scared - we don't bite. We usually play on Darff's Morituri server or ewdafas server, just join and we can hook you up with the information that you need.

It's Fer's server, he's just busy so I do some adminning. But yeah, oldskool UK players drop by #quake.uk fairly regularly - we saw Paris yesterday, prom (ex-denial) spent a few weeks there recently and got back into CA, all sorts. Don't take anyone too seriously.

Another old fart here, back after a 14 year rest.
I am pleasantly surprised to see some of the old names still on the go. It's a lot more relaxed in #quake.uk nowadays
