Hello everyone,

I used to play Quake back in the days, back then i made a map called Battle Zone.
You can grab it here: http://www.quid.dk/temp/battle.rar

It works fine when i play it in WinQuake, but when i load it in nQuake/ezQuake it just crashes

Anyone know why?

Loaded fine here in a recent EZQuake alpha. I saw in another post you were using a different client, so that may need looking into.

ok so i made the bsp into a .map file and checked it and i found this, you have placed a info_player_start and a info_player_deathmatch at the exact same place. Its the spawn near Low Tele/Grenade Launcher. This may cause some trouble.. dunno, i have never done this so =)

map works fine for me tho with: ezquake, darkplaces and joequake

I tried lastest night build (with my nQuake installation), same crash

So i guess the problem is somewhere in the settings that comes with nQuake?
I could try and move the start thinge if i can get my map editable again

well its not the problem i guess since it works perfect for me. Does it say anything in the console why it crashes?

Nope, its not the problem, i converted it to .map and moved the info_player_start, still the same problem...

There is no time to read anything from the console, game just crashes and i get this message:

Did you try several different clients? Perhaps fitzquake will give you a decent error output since it has loads of stuff built in for map designers while other clients don't have that. And try it in a dos window or read the error log if it has any. Best bet is to post your problem at func_msgboard here:

Works fine in fitzquake aswell, no messages or anything, it just starts.

I have posted the same question on that forum also, hopefully someone will know

Quid, the problem might be not with the client you're using, but the qwprogs.dat. Does it work for you in any other QW client?

I dont even have a qwprogs.dat, is that a problem?

I installed Quake to a different folder and added only ezQuake and the map works, so it has something to do with nQuake, maybe some setting or addon that is included?

You do have qwprogs.dat, probably hidden in a pak file (ezquake/progs.pk3?)

My guess is the Frogbot qwprogs shipped with nQuake doesn't like something about this map, such as the lack of an info_intermission entity (a well-behaved progs should fall back on info_player_start in this case, but maybe the Frogbot one doesn't)

The Frogbot qwprogs.dat and all it's iterations is pretty sloppy, it's as if Frog just modded NQ or ancient QW source. For instance knockback being higher for damage under 60

I got the same error on my map just now, and i found out that i had a trigger_teleport with a target set to t1
but my info_teleport_destination didnt have a name. So i changed the name on my teleport destination to t1 and it works.

Check it out and see if it helps
