I'm curious what hardware would be required to get the following FPS in QuakeWorld, consistently. I know you can't give exact hardware, but maybe the processor, graphics card, and amount of ram. For example:

XXX FPS
Pentium 4 3 GHZ
4 GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 3650

These are the FPS levels, I'm wondering about

250 FPS

500 FPS

750 FPS

1000 FPS

Thank you.

1001 FPS
I7 2.67Ghz @ 3.68Ghz
6 GB RAM Tripple Channel 1600 Mhz
GTX460 1GB
1920x1080

I am just playing with 1001fps its not the limit, also the resolution is having a big impact so that might be usefull to report also.

720 FPS
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz
3 GB RAM
Gainward Bliss GF 9600GT

Well it kind of depends on OS/drivers/graphics settings, so I see no point in this thread without that info?

Well, this kind of thread is faulty in so many ways I don't even want to start pointing out...

XP SP3-32bits
Core 2 Duo 2.6Ghz overclocked at 3.2Ghz
2GB RAM DDR2-800
EVGA GTX 260 216-cores
1024x768 75hz game resolution (i get same fps with 1680x1050)
= 700fps

The fps is the result of "timedemo" command on 4on4 maps e1m2, dm2, dm3.
If you don't plan to play 4on4 or FFA, for 2on2 and 1on1 better fps will be achieved.
In QW fps are more affected by cpu than gpu.
Take in mind you should use multiples of 77 (154, 231, 308, 385, 462, 539, 616, 693, 770)
Honestly i don't see the need for more than 770, it will only stress graphic card for almost no gain.
I'm using 462fps and it's very smooth, don't know if it has anything to do with mouse being at 500hz.

The following variables are the ones that have the most impact on fps.
My settings:
I'm using external textures and models.
I'm not using particle effects ("gl_part_xxx 0" and "gl_particle_xxx 0"

gl_powerupshells "1"
r_powerupGlow "2"
gl_flashblend "0"
cl_muzzleflash "0"
r_dynamic "1"
r_explosionLight "0"
r_rocketLight "0"
r_grenadeTrail "0"
gl_nailtrail "0"
r_drawflame "0"

Test yourself a few "timedemo demo-file-name.mvd" so you know a stable value.
