I am a Quake Live player. I've been watching videos of QuakeWorld duels and it looks like the most skilled FPS created. I'm downloading it and going to give it a try.

Welcome to the community. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! As always, you might want to pop into #qwrookie @ QuakeNet and join in with fellow rookies.

I'm from Dallas, Texas. I want to get into competitive dueling for this game. Is the population of QuakeWorld large enough to be worth switching from QL to it?

#telefrag.me and #na.qw.pickup on irc.quakenet.org. That's where all of the american quakeworlders hang out and start games.

Right now our scene in North America is pretty small but the gameplay for quakeworld is too much fun to pass up. There is a project in the works for a competitive ranking system that would be worth sticking around for that may reignite the scene in NA. I would say definitely give QuakeWorld a shot if you want the most expressive / free movement you can find. Or if you like launching water balloon rockets go back to quake live. :-)

It's still in development. I'm not sure when it will be completed but we're working on it daily.

Hi byte and welcome to qw... Im glad that your interested in playing. especially in NA.. Fenris is correct our scene is a bit thin but we all enjoy playing... One thing that I can offer is help,, best way to to get in and start playing is with a person or persons that will treat ya nice and and help ya past learning curves.. One thing I know is that ive been playing for a long time and I still learn stuff here and there.. It will be tough and you will lose "ALOT" unless your just a natural.. dont get discouraged just keep aiming and learn from your mistakes... Get headphones if you dont have em and ask people you play about video and cfg settings and such.. their is plenty of help out their. Im in a NA clan called DG im on irc in channel #doppelganger also likes fenris said we hang out in #telefrag.me

my name is Orex or if you see me playing dg.wreckz ill be more then happy to help ya with stuff

I think he means the North American scene, which is true. The entire Quakeworld scene, which is mostly European, I wouldn't consider thin.

Thanks for the help. I am fine with losing multiple times in a row, when I Duel in Quake Live I play in red servers the entire day. Do you have Skype or MSN?

I plan on quitting Quake Live by Valentine's day, after I make my frag video.
