I know QW has been long forgotten in the US. I miss playing it, I used to play with all the old quake US players back in the day, but then I lost the internet for a while. Anyone know of any US servers or leagues that may be around? I'd love to get back into this game if possible, if not its limited to a friends-only LAN(which is fun but it gets boring after you destroy your friends all the time :p).

Still its better than nothing! Thanks

I hope they come back sassa, I went to CS but after seeing VALVe's butchering of the Quake engine to make HL, I went to World of Warcraft and play QW with friends from time to time.

Hopefully I can play against some of you and try to get some of that skill I had ;P

hi

we all know the qw status especially outside europe. that's one reason we're discussing the launch of a world-wide qw "campaign" to get new players into qw.

the discussion was originally placed here: http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=436&p=1
now we've moved into irc (quakenet), we're (temporarily) in #quakehelp

the campaign main objective is ofc get new players into qw. to acheive that, there's some things to be done, and all help is appreciated. this will take some time, but will worth the effort in a near future!

long live QW!!
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

QW in NA is kind of a break ATM until after the GGL finishes I'd say. After that happens perhaps there will be some form of DM tourney(1v1, 2v2, 4v4, povdmm4, ffa, etc, and perhaps with divisions). We still play fairly regularly but you have to be around then. Usually the most active periods are afternoon to early hours of the morning(duh). Finding a 1v1 or 2v2 isn't that hard, but generally only a couple 4v4s happen a day at best. Some of the more active NA players are involved in EQL or NQR.

I'm interested in starting up a FFA server of my own in America within a month or two. Mainly because there are only 1 or 2 FFA servers in America that ever have people on it (and I can only play Aerowalk over and over so many times). I got allot of local friends that play quake on and off still, but mostly off. The only time I can get any to play is at LAN parties which are few and far between. I know I could get them to come back with a new server with some favorite maps (anybody ever play beckno with over 4 players!) Anyways, I'll post back on here once its up and running on a dedicated machine. America's quakeworld scene is in a sad state and something needs to be done! Long live QW!!
