i had ALOT of problems with ezQ 2.0 on win7. switched back to 1.9.3 and it went smooth.
running it as an administrator in XPSP3 Compatibility mode (only "run in 256 colors" enabled) gave me the smoothest result.
try those settings!

Please distinguish between software and openGL builds. Afaik Spoink uses software - which might cause some problems because 2.0 re-enabled optimised assembler code here. Please report the crash in detail. There should be debug builds available for windows.

For openGL it might just an issue of Windows7/GPU drivers. At least I don't know of any fundamental things in the openGL subsystem that has changed since..

Wasn't there a discussion that openGL is now wrapped into D3D in newer Windows systems? I don't know. Was long ago I read about this discussion elsewhere.

weird. I'm running ezQ 2.0 (and previous builds) on Win7 x64 on my GF9600GT and I have almost everything perfectly normal like I did on XP. I did get some fps drops before, but that was due to the automatic defregmentation by Diskeeper......so far so good....

ezquake-gl of course, no XPSP3 emulation, no 256-bit forcing, no Administrator mode forcing.

same here works perfect, might be the issue with latest nvida driver? something with making a profile for ezquake-gl.exe and disable threaded optimization

Aero being enabled is generally responsible for most performance issues in games and HDTV in Win7 I have discovered.

Even though it automatically reverts to basic theme when the game starts I still see much better performance overall when I simply use a windows classic theme all the time.
