I play with fps 77, but in game it looks smoother then this. I use fps 25 to capture .jpegs, then in VirtualDub I also use 25 fps. Because the resolution is pretty high, the video is already more then 1 GB in size! If I would use more fps (although I wouldn't know how, 'cause that messes up the audio/video sync) then the video would be even bigger to upload.

Well, I removed this movie a long time ago because it did NOT have the desired effect. I posted a link to it on speeddemosarchive in the quake section, thinking that it might get these SP speedrunners to play some QW. Instead, the reaction was quite negative. The main argument I remember was that ffa multiplayer is no fun because your lifespan is so short (the player POV was myself and even though I won the game, I indeed died a lot on Aero).

So instead, I think about uploading another video, but this time of reppie whom I recorded a few years ago when he was playing on xs4all. It won't be in HD though, I'm thinking doing it with ezquake itself..

Lifespan is short indeed, it's the challenge to get as much out of that lifespan as possible, bloody whiners they are!!

Let's say I'll make another movie and record it with higher demo_capture_fps (40 or 60), do I have to convert that fps again to 30 or 25 for the final encoding? Because when I look at a downloaded quakeworld movie, the fps is usually 25 or 30....

Youtube and the like aren't good with non-standard frame rates.

Right, so I have to convert the fps. I already did that in VirtualDubMod and it works fine.

And on the other players! I mean, if you are playing and there's no other decent player on the server, then mr. Vader is one happy quadrunner. If, however, Bambi/Wimpeeh/Gijs is also playing, then you die and can kiss your flawless quadruns goodbye

Map makes a big difference still, something like DM3 you can sometimes stay alive for a few mins even vs good players if you are running RA and quad while they are struggling to get a weapon out of the bridge area (discharge spammers etc).

Perhaps the flawless ones, but no matter what player i'm up against in an FFA i think i can (*could) pose a threat that's great enough to be watchable.

OK, to make up for the deleted movie, I've uploaded some Reppie ffa movies. No, it's no HD, it's 480p instead of 720, but if you don't press the fullscreen button, it's still a nice impression of quake ffa... with a freak player in it

A benefit of 640x480 is that you can play it on portable devices as well. I've heard some mobile phones are able to play these movies as well...but I don't really keep up with all this shit.

Oh and Flepser is in it too (dm2)! He tries to take quad from Reppie

I even created a whole new youtube page for this stuff:

I thought about removing these nametags but on the other hand, it does give the viewer a better idea of what the hell is happening in this ultra fast-paced game. Especially when these viewers don't know QW...

BTW: HOW do you remove these tags??? I can't find it anywhere in the manual or menu...

Yes, good point. But ofcourse I never wrote that the map DIDN'T matter. Ake Vader stated that it 'TOTALLY' depends on the map. I responded by writing it also depended on the players.
