Argh, just let Ruohis work in the monster models. Nobody has made any decent models for any monsters in Quake yet. There is already enough junk out there for Multiplayer...

What exactly has been made for multiplayer? There ain't really any player model replacement that's been finished, and correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt that the only thing that is made for multiplayer only?

Monsters are ok, but i'm still waiting for player model. I finished Quake so many times that i don't find singleplayer fun anymore... tried custom sp maps, but... this game is too easy even on nightmare! Mainly because dumb monster AI.

You obviously have not played ProZaC-TF Coop yet! Try connecting to phoenixlabs.org:27508 someday!

@Ruohis: Thank you, powerups and rune models are awesome!

oh for the love of god quit mentioning the player model... this thread has too many posts concerning it... I'll make it when i'll make it. as many have said, it is the most wanted model of them all, and for that reason i won't even think about making it before i have honed my skill with the monsters. so unless you had a dream where god told you it is done, you'll just have to wait for me to say that it is done (witch is roughly the same as having a dream about god...).

and thanks lava croft... always nice to have ones work appreciated

Ruohis, I like the new Scrag model - but as the skin currently stands, I prefer the old high-res skin on the original model to your new one. I think it's primarily the face that looks much better on the high-res skin for the original model. I'm not sure what I can suggest, but just thought I would point this out.

I honestly think your version looks creepier(mainly the front shot of the face), but its definitely not faithful to the original completely. the original seems a bit taller too. I love the fish!

I'll extend a little more on the scrag. the texture is great, the animations are nice. it just needs to be a little taller and less wide. I think the creepy face is refreshing to see.

and a quick texture editing session...

http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/qrp/monsters/wizard.rar <- if someone wants to try it ingame, no animation still...

will make all the models and after that i'll start to animate them... one by one...

like in this shot, he looks more cute than anything. :p

was never that happy with the first attempt of making the oldone... so made it again, and a lot more faithfull... still a very crude texture but the model is much better

Sweet. The Knight is the only monster for Quake that nobody has made a high-res skin or model for.

well, i was always wondering... why enemies in all games are so stupid, and they don't use items like weapons, armors, powerups etc. but leave them for player. It's like "hey, there's rocket launcher over there, please grab it and convert us in to dead pieces of meat! ^_^".

after reading herbs post and a few other ones in trickle's vweps thread i came to think that i should probably model the soldier to hold an actual shotgun in his hand, as for the enforcer just a similar weapon to what he has, it sure looks like it could fire laser so why change that? as for the orge, shouldn't he be holding a grenade launcher in one hand... also thinking that the knight and hell knight will have the same model as a base, just make the hell knight look a bit bigger, thicker arms and legs etc... and also add the spike details and horns witch are essential

well your weapon models certainly give you the best possible basis to do that. especially your g_weapons, i love them. i'd be curious to see the current ogre with your gren launcher in hands, i have a feeling it would look quite awesome.
hmm but wouldn't you have to somehow scale down the weapons because they look a bit too high-poly for low-poly monsters?

I have a really good feeling about this project. I just hope ezQuake can fix how bright md3 models show up ingame soon.

thanks, looking forward to se what all theese models will grow in to in the future, if someone will do a retexturing project on my models (since imo. my textures are not the best possible...) and what engines will include them in their default packs etc..

and yeah, would have to scale down polygon count on the models a bit, and make them more simple to texture. even though md3 allows me to have a different texture for the monster and a different for the weapon etc...

the shotgun model would have to be modelled, at least if i'm not goig to use the ssg, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesnt the soldier fire a regular shotgun? at least if you look at the damage inflicted by soldiers... but the g_rock model is quite easy to scale down to at least half the polygon count it has at the moment.

and to me it looks like the md3 models are not affected by light sources at all in ez...

in case someone is wondering where they have seen that face before, that's the head from mOO:s player model :p came to the conclusion that i could not do that part better... at least not now

textues will do most of that illusion... but not that hard to make the legs and arms a bit more thick, and give him some more ass to kick ass with!!

now if i can just save it to MD3 or MDL

Ruohis, would this .max file (complete with animations from plague i think) help as a stencil?

Is this moo's player model?

EDIT.: Maybe Plague's model wearing moo's texture?
