Vote and discuss!
What advantages and disadvantages do you think they have?
Has anybody tried to switch from one to the other? Has he succeeded in it?

I used mouse2 from the start... after some months I gave the space-key a try, but it didn't feel so good.
I think it's much easier to coordinate a rocket jump, if you can press two buttons with the same hand. :>

I've always used mouse2 for jumping, in every FPS i've played. And it's great for rocketjumping.
Teamplay is nothing. Aim is everything. OBEY YOUR AIM

if you use 'bind space +jump' it is hard to jump, move, change weapon and fire all at the same time left hand already has enough to do as it is

Started off with space, but shortly after Quakeworld appeared I decided I wasn't efficient enough with it and migrated to mouse2 which made much better use of my available digits :]
Only caveat is that the using the jumping finger can knock my aim very slightly, but was never really much of an issue.

Don't really play Quake anymore, and find myself using the default WASD key layout more with most games rather than the slightly odd SHIFT, ALT, A, Z I had always used with Quake. Surprised at how easy the progression between the two layouts was, and now I can quite happily switch between the two without *too* much grief

I use:

s - forward
a - strafe left
d - strafe right
ALT - back
mouse2 - jump

Anyone else in the world use that?
It has to be the weirdest combination of all cos 4 fingers on keys at all times, thumb on ALT.
So I cant just buy any keyboard because some keyboards got ALT moved slightly right or left
Which means I can only play on oldskool keyboards with standard layout.

oh and SHIFT to switch to shaft.
