Hi,

I just got the Phillips CRT 22" monitor 202P75 and i dont know what resolution and htz are ideal for playing quake qw.
I used to have a crt 17" monitor so its a big jump, I was wondering if u guys could help me set the smoothest and nicer resolution and htz to play QW. I use defs config and would change just the resolution and htz or is there more stuff that i should change ? i dont know much about configs.
thx in advance,
tbot

77fps/154fps/154Hz and mouse at 500Hz. You can try 308fps too (physfps 77, maxfps 308, monitor 154Hz).

Why only 308 maxfps ? cant i use maxfps 1000 ? mouse at 1000hz ?

Is there a cmd line for me to set the monitor at 154 hz ? or i just set that on windows ?

And what resolution should i use ?

thx again

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 1200 NF 22" and i run in 100hz with 308fps, that´s smoothest for me with width -800 -height 600- in qw.

I don't understand why so many people cap fps/hz at multiples of 77 with independentphysics.
I've always felt that highest refresh rate and a very high cap for FPS (something mostly attainable) with 1000hz mouserate are best.

I don't cap hz or fps anymore. Just use the max hz that your monitor can handle and maxfps 0.

You can set the hz inside of ezQuake, everything is in the menu

You're saying you don't understand basically explains it. There IS a reason to do so, check some of my explanations on some other thread I've replied.

Besides, at 150Hz refreshrate you are not seeing any of the additional frames you might get using cl_maxfps 0 (unlimited).

So basicallly what you r saying Renzo is that the best set up for me is: physfps 77, maxfps 308, monitor 154Hz ? 800 x 600 ?
Why not physfps 154, monitor 154hz , and maxfps 0, 800x600 ?

You can't change physfps above 77, it's restricted by server so you may as well keep it "0"(not set).

You just got your explanation in Renzo's post for not getting anything from maxfps 0 and he also mentioned about searching his other replies so he don't need to explain it again. I'll give you a short one. If your monitor has 154hz(example) it means it doesn't update motion 1000 times in a second(1000fps) so you don't get anything from high fps other than feel. And while physfps is restricted, it doesn't affect moving either.

you can't have a higher physfps than the server has maxfps. and all (most) servers have 77 as max fps. some have 72.

Well type r_netstats 1 then change maxfps from 77, 100, 154, 308 and observe changes in ping. 77 or multiples of 77 give me the best ping.
