QUAKEWORLD.FI:28000

http://quakeworld.fi:28000/nowplaying

Quakeworld.nu MetaQTV

http://qtv.quakeworld.nu

REQUIREMENT: ezQuake 1.9 stable or newer

Example client commands:

You can list QTV streams by qtvlist quakeworld.fi:28000

You can watch QTV streams by qtvplay x@quakeworld.fi:28000 where x is a number from the QTV streams list.

You will need at least ezQuake 1.9 stable or newer test version at the top of this post. You can also watch streams by downloading "watch.qtv" file from the QTV http page and opening it with EZQuake.

** BUGREPORTING PROCEDURE **

Naturally we are going to have some bugs in QTV that might concern ezQuake, MVDSV or the QTV itself. Therefore we need reports of any strange behaviour that users have bumped into. Take the following steps and report the bug in this thread.

Quote:
1) if you find a bug, try to reproduce it

2) if you managed to reproduce it, confirm the bug with someone

3) if the bug can be reproduced and others confirm it too then you have to make step by step guide how to reproduce it and post it on this thread.

4) don't forget to mention your ezQuake client version if you have any other/newer than 1.8 stable

** NOTE TO SERVER ADMINS! **

To enable QTV capability, you need to specify qtv_streamport for each of your servers. For example:
Quote:
qw.suomicom.fi:28001 --> qtv_streamport 28001
qw.suomicom.fi:23456 --> qtv_streamport 23456

The same port value can be used because normal clients connect using UDP where QTV uses TCP.

Also make sure that you are running the very latest MVDSV from SVN for best results.

** QTV LINKS! **

QTV homepage (contains manual, wiki, downloads, installation help, etc)

EZTV blog (obsolete, updates are announced on qw-dev)

P.S. To thread crappers: go flame elsewhere.

I don't.

I'll get my builds from the Cokeman's stuff or ask Qqshka to compile some internal build for testing (it means those features might have not been committed yet).

Small update:

Players can now use last scores command by typing:

/cmd lastscores

In the client console when QTV'ing matches. Requires MVDSV/KTX update, but you all know what servers are up-to-date (check signature).

Haha Renzo

But thats nice, i also like the "/cmd users" command, to see who is actually spectating.

Recently i've noticed that i can't change my name when using qtv, i'm always just unamed(x) and when i try to change name it just say i changed name to unnamed(x) again.

Havnt investigated it, might just be my ezquake alpha so won't do any bug report, just asking if you would know anything about this?

There was a bug in QTV that made this happen. Qqshka fixed it and I updated it yesterday or so, so it shouldn't be there anymore. The problem was with more than 4-5 QTV'ers around so it's hard to check, or at least wait for a game that has enough observers.

It "seems" to work properly for now, but we'll see...

If u have recent build of ezquake 1.9, then u prefer use /qtvusers instead.

QTV now playing url is old and not working.

Why http://quakeworld.fi:28000/nowplaying/ doesn't show every server? An example of a list with some other servers http://butt.se:30000/nowplaying/. It's dull for having many qtv now playing pages and pain in the ass to use.

Was just asking and also I've been on a break from qw for 6 months at least.

Thanks for pointing out the right url.

Do not expect some year(s) old thread be updated, there are other places around that have all the updated info (hint: QTV homepage...)

Because I choose to use my QTV for the servers I run only?

Or perhaps I should waste all of my server resources and bandwidth to QTV and leave my servers what's left of it?

It's not like there hasn't been something else to gather infos on QTVs to a single place. There will be somewhat bigger announcement regarding QTV soon. Keep the off-topic chatter out from release/informative threads too, they are meant to provide information about the particular project, not how long someone has been away from qw.

I wish qtv.quakeworld.nu would get it's new web design!

I once made a layout (http://blaps.se/qw/qtv/qtv9.png) that RIO (#suddendeath) coded css for, but he never had the edge to finish it. Here's a comparison of existing qtv page vs. my new design:

One could dream that any volunteer coder that could bring new fuel to the fire...

What exactly has been done? That looks like a Photoshopped image only?
Is the actual code for it there, but only missing CSS?

Mawhhr info plz!

rio coded css to like 80% complete. We'll need to find him to get a hold of it.
All I have is photoshop files. But I remember alot of debate with johhny_cz about how all functionality would work, and to me it all sounded good and just to go. On the other hand my memory tends to fail and this was like 2 years ago...

Feels like it's a quite small effort to get a great win for a big crowd (as far as I know almost everyone scouts qtv page for games nowadays, right?).

Banned and deleted that spammer from above.

On topic, I'd like to see that new look on metaqtv also. I remember it being quite promising and "fresh" compared to the current page, and I always wondered why it wasn't added. I didn't bother myself with it though, as I consider johnny_cz being the one in charge with metaqtv stuff anyway.

I also tried to offer the whole QTV project for him as both I and Qqshka have quit qw-dev stuff, but unfortunately he kindly refused.

Why remove the nice logo and replace with text only? I actually think the one used from qw-dev is best =)

remember that people use qtv as a serverbrowser, please keep that in mind when making any changes that might have an impact on loading times. i'm thinking of the ch tv redesign here.
that goes for animated gifs on the main page especially!

I believe Johnny_cz is the man to speak to regarding the "Meta QTV".

Since the last time we talked about the redesign, all the QTVs are updated and serve the required data - as can be seen in this XML - http://qtv.quakeworld.nu/?rss
So now it's just a matter of producing the HTML+CSS for this I believe.

Can't see how animated gif would slow down loading of the page - static content gets cached in your browser and takes practically zero time to load next time. Don't know if this particular gif would suit to the design, I leave that to others to decide.

The site is not currently setup to encourage browsers to cache. Try YSlow or a similar tool for (reasonable) optimisation.

Try this in your .htaccess, 604800 is one week (which is not much):

<FilesMatch "\.(jpg|png|gif)$">
Header set Cache-Control "max-age=604800, public"
</FilesMatch>

Once the site is done, add css to that list.

--------

On second thought I would suggest moving the "mapname, timeleft, spectators" columns as row above the scores or even better, to the left. Then put the "X vs Y" above the scores.
Maybe integrate the number of specs into the Watch Now button. Remove the "console connect" string and instead make the "/qtvplay url" line that HTML element I just forgot the name of, often dotted underline, shows definition when hovering the mouse on it.

This meaning that anyone with basic knowledge of HTML+CSS and TIME can do it.
I don't know if I have the old code lying around somewhere, but anyways as Johnny sais, a lot has changed (for the better) and this should be extremely easy compared to then.

I talked to ]SR[javve the other day and he seemed happy to do the coding, but he's having trouble finding time for it (duh!). Perhaps there's someone else out there, some nice soul willing to do this?

It's some more data to it too - like colors and country flags, are they in the html mark-up all ready?
