Hi,

I installed EZ Quake a few Days ago and got some Problems. This is my System:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.7 GHZ
4 GB OCZ RAM
XFX 8800 GTX (Driver: ForceWare 163.71)
Samsung SyncMaster 940 BF (Driver: SyncMaster 940BF, SyncMaster Magic CX903B/CX916B (Digital), Date: 18.07.2005) with MagicTune 3.6 Software

Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2

EZ Quake Version 1.8 (1917)

Hope all necessarily Data are specified...

My "GL_Gamma" ist set to "0.5", but it doesn't work! The Screen is dark and stays dark. Also I can't change the GL_Gamma (not brighter and not darker). The same Problem appears with the R_Gamma Command in Quake 3, Call of Duty, Quake 4, etc.! In other Games (for Example Source Engine Games like Half-Life²) the Problem does not exist. Here I can change the Brightness via the Gamma Command or in the Menu...

Somehow, sometimes it works in EZ Quake, etc. - the Screen is bright and I can change the Command - but I don't now why?

I think it's a Driver Problem. Does somebody know the Problem and help me?

the lower you set your -gamma cmdline option, the darker the game becomes

-gamma 0.3 makes the game very very dark

O.K., but "0.5" or "1.5" doesnt't matter. The Command doesn't work.

The Screen is always the same dark...

@sassa: Putting "-gamma 0.5 (or 1.5) in the Start Line has also no effect...

@empezar: "0.5" makes the Game not darker! Some times it works and then the game is bright! As far as I know make higher Values the Game (Quake/QuakeWorld/EZ Quake) darker. In Quake 3 for Example higher values turns the Screen brighter. Why sould my Game turn brighter sometimes?

Hm, the EZ Quake Manual just says "You can edit brightness. Note: This is shortcut for sw_gamma in vga and gl_gamma in gl."...

I'm still not able to change Brightness (via gl_gamma/r_gamme) in the Games listed above!

Use just gamma command in console and cfg_save once you've finished. You shouldn't need to use any cmdlines.

...but the Gamma Command - gl_gamma - doesn't work! It doesn't take any effect. I can set it to 0.5, 1.0 or 1.5. It always the same dark screen!

@povohat: Yeah, I think so. But it worked always. The Problem appeared a few Weeks ago. Don't know why. I don't think that the Problem is the ForceWare Driver. I think it a simple Setting somwhere. I had the Problem with MQWCl and my old ATI 9600 CT Video Card some Years ago. The Problem was a Video Setting somewhere in the Driver. At the Moment I'm helpless. When I set my TFT brighter via MagicTune the Screen turns also dark, when I start EZ Quake, when I finish EZ Quake and return to my Desktop, the Screen turns bright...
