i would really like to try ctf. i tried some server but most were running strange maps (maybe they are the classic ctf maps, but for a beginner they were kind of strange).

I would just like to know, if there is a map pack with all ctf maps, if there is a complete package like ziel's tf project. Is there somewhere a guide for ctf that explains the different mods (with hook, without hook), commands, variables and stuff like that. i know that the qw scene is pretty focused on 1on1 and 4on4 and the chances are bad that there will be ctf games. but at least i would like to try it out, offline with bots or against some friends.

every help and tip is appreciated

I guess the most common will still be the 3wave levels: http://www.clanhdz.com/files/quake/3wctfc.zip

there used to be one huge package will all sorts of CTF maps and mods. I think it was called 'allstart CTF', but i couldnt immediately come up with a link.

found it:

http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/threewave/ctf/client/

i think you only need
http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/threewave/ctf/client/3wctfc.zip

as it seems to be the complete package.

The all-star site is still here:
http://allstar.planetquake.gamespy.com/allstar_body.shtml

files would be in
http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/captured/allstar/
and http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/captured/allstar2/

you can also find thunderwalker there. but i am really not sure how popular anything except for threewave has ever been.

I really miss this.

Is there interest to play a 2on2 ctf league ?
never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

4on4 please, btw i have had a perfect ctf server running at xs4all. Should be easy to fire it up again. At that time there were not many people interested

Dunno remember the mods name but it was seperate from ktx etc.

Edit: Pure CTF mod was the one i used, worked very well. But after that ktx started working on improvements on their ctf server...

Could count on a couple teams from the US..

We played a fun 1 map 2on2 tourney 2 years ago or so. Was like 7 americans + Creature. Good times.

As long as there are a handful of teams we should do something.. doesn't have to be big.. just fun.

Restarted xs4all ctf server, let me know if it needs changes.

quake.xs4all.nl:27600

Alias for easy hook:

alias +hook "impulse 22;+attack"
alias -hook "-attack"

bind x "+hook"

Also stuff you wanna know:
Tossrune command for throwing your current rune away to take another, there are 4 types of runes:
Haste, Resistance, Strength and Regeneration

and you can change team by changing your color to blue/red

all we need is someone to organize... 2v2/3v3/4v4. Like hiro said, you can count on probably 4 or 5 players from the US.

how about something like this:

Besides the actual league (i would still make it 2on2 for starters - more teams - more activity - less waiting - almost as fun), I would organize a simple thing: a ctf-night-of-the-week, every week, same day. "Wednesday nights at xs4all ctf server, feel free to join" - to promote ctf and get some games going. ««-- get this on the news and you're done!

edit: (oh and if stats are available even better - would bring extra-interest in the league / ladder / whatever)

CTF is now enabled on qw.quakeservers.net:28501, 28502 and 28503. The map selection contains ctf1 - 8, ctf2m1 - 8, ctf3m1 - 9, all single player and deathmatch maps.

Don't think thats a good working ctf. Didn't test it for long but:
-No runes
-No hook

PureCtf > Ktx Ctf (unless they added allot in the last few months).

There seems to be a bug in KTX. CTF will only work properly if:

1. ctf is enabled with /ctf
2. map is changed

after these hook and runes start to work.

I'll report this to KTX developers.

You can enable hook/runes with /nohook or /hook, and /norunes or /runes (can't remember which).

I think there's enough interest at least for CTF a day per week. Molgrum, can u add a "league" to kenya webby? its the same concept as fkt...
