May I ask why you continue to persist with homecoded PHP and phpBB when those have been the reasons for the multiple hackings you've been victim of. If you check any bug / security-list you'd see that PHP coded applications are listed almost on a daily basis, and the phpBB is one of the worst sinners:

Almost all of the automated "attacks" on my site are scripts trying to exploit one form or another of a php-vulnerability.

If you go ahead with php I urge you and/or the site admin to be vigilant readers of bugtraq or secunia.
