True, I didn't know how else to put it. It's not about the amount of chords being used, it's just that a lot of these tracks out there are just slick sounds that come and go. There's practically no composition whatsoever. Just slick sounds and milking out the concept of repetition. The 'awesomeness' lies in the way how the software was used to make this kind of stuff.

Ofcourse everybody is free to like whatever they want.

Actually,Di-Rect is not my kind of music (too soft), but as death/gothic metal (among other) listener i must explain something. Death Metal is very melodic music, esp. subgenre called ... Melodic Death Metal Gothic is also very soft music, and if singer is a woman, not that different from rock music you can hear on radio. Evanescence (which i don't like) made huge commercial success, in spite of fact Metal is not popular among masses. Don't compare these two to genres like gore/porn grindcore/whatever puke-at-mic disaster. For example:

saw some vids with townsend doing some "lessons" on guitar and music it's pretty good when you listen to what he has to say
