Thanks to the ease of use hud editor in Ez, I actually had the patience to design my own this time. It's pretty standard I suppose, just a bit more clean and thorough.
So I think this is pretty good, I enjoy this a whole lot more than alot of the huds out there :d
Criticism welcomed - if you have any ideas on how to make it better, hollarate.

I'm using moondrunk's charset with a few modifications. I just changed a few of the symbols and made the text blue. In my opinion, using blue instead of orange makes it stand out better because of Quake's color pallette. So give it a whirl:

I seriously wish people would stop playing QuakeWorld with these horrible neon gfx. It's just an insult to everything Quake is, apart from the fact that it's rather cheap cheating. BLEH.

I dunno really - it seems like just the right amount of not too small, not too big, readable, clear, and pretty. I've tried that charset in every resolution and every console resolution and that really is the best mix of both not too small/not too big. :/

do you realise that you'll get better looking hud itens if you use a conres that is multiple of you res?

try conres 640x512 for that res your playing.

it would probably be better if you made this hud resolution independent, by working with hud_*_align_x/y and hud_*_place.

and if you posted it in the hud config thread

Yea I thought about that, but it sounds like a pain in the ass. For some reason the cursor sensitivity changes alot on me when I edit huds. If I hold shift or something, the speed triples, but if I just move stuff around it's fine.
Any idea what causes that? Glitch?

1280 *1024 is weird dont u think?

1280 * 960 makes more sense being 4:3 aspect ratio?

You're not alone.

On the other hand, be glad to play a game where it doesn't make that much of a difference how the game looks. You make your own game and have pretty much all the freedom you need to make it look like you want without it giving you an upper hand over your opponent.

I do agree that it is the ugliest thing ive ever seen. But cheating? How? have you ever tried these gfx? It's harder to predict the distance of an enemy if you have smooth walls than it is if you used 24bit or default quake textures. If anything hes making the game harder for himself.

ya I can see it being harder. I'd lose my sense of distance with plain coloured floors like that.

with such flat colors you have a very reduced sense of depth perception. It's like playing quake with one eye.
