I need LCD monitor for play qw time from time.
So, i want to ask ppl, who know how great qw on CRT with fpsindepended physics and who have experience of using few LCD monitors for playing QW about his experience.
For example: few of my friends have negative skill of using BenQ FP93GX for playing games.
So, what the best LCD for qw?
What matrix? What model?
I going to buy 17'' or 19''.
With best wishes, B1aze.

i bought a BenQ FP93GX last year.. it cant be compared to a crt fo sho, but actually i dont have problems playing games on it. (qw, q3, et)
if i take a close look on fast movements i can see some very little ghosting.. but my game play did not suffer (neither did it improve )

i'd say the benq is pretty good, when switching from crts to lcds.

I have Samsung 206BW - it's 20" Widescreen, 2ms GTG, ~5-6ms BWB, TNT-III panel etc. simply fantastic. 75Hz till 1152x864. native - 1680x1050@60Hz

super smooth, independentphysics on, maxfps 0. qw resolution is 1152x864 and 75Hz.

Looks so unsmooth with lcd due to the low refresh rate (thats all the dif i see when comparing crt to lcd, there's no more ghost problem with the newest screens afaik) but anyway you get used to after a few days. If i were you i'd rather wait the 100hz lcds, it's been annonced for a while now but don't know if it's released yet.

u don't see any difference, after 5-6 days of playing, between 75Hz and 150Hz (like I used to play on CRT)

murdoc, have you checked if there is any latency with a stopwatch? I assume you still own a crt.

no i haven't, but i am very picky with those things. I have another 17" tft with does show alot of ghosting, so i only use it for dualscreen.

You have to get use to the hz yes, it runs at 1280x1024 76hz but with high fps its smooth.

TRUE.
I have 100hz TV (Samsung le m71 b). And its perfect. Feels like 150hz on CRT.

I have had 2ms viewsonix 922vx for 1,5 years and it pretty much suck compared to crt. however, its playable with fps independent pyhysics and fps set around 300. I wouldn't go back to crt anymore...

Ghosting is irrelevant, eventually you just wont notice it. Im playing with 25ms TFT. So i dont think the latency in the monitor is such a big issue.

Agreed, ghosting isn't the thing that makes TFTs undesired. It is the low fps (60 or 75) and most notably the input lag. TN TFTs don't suffer too badly from input lag and they usually have working 75Hz refreshrate too.

However, if you really want to have quality instead of speed, you won't get a TN TFT. You get one of those with IPS or PVA/MVA panels. These TFTs have input lag more or less and usually their refreshrate is limited to 60Hz (you can use 75Hz but it does not work properly making screen jerky).

I have NEC 20WGX2 with AS-IPS panel (because I wanted to have image quality) and it works properly only with 60Hz and there is some input lag too, even though according to tests it's less than with any other "quality" panels out there but still much more than with TN. Anyway, I couldn't get my ezQ to be as smooth as with my CRT (77fps/154fps/154Hz) and the difference I felt was too much even if I tried all the possible settings.

Funny though, other games do not suffer as horribly as qw does, but we all know that the qw is more or less about configuration/settings
