I make the example of quake.xs4all.nl but the default ports for clanwars, qwteam and qwduel are also 27500. Even though it shouldn't proove too difficult for people to add the portaddress to the dns-address in their binds/aliasses/connect server stuff.

Why two ffa servers btw? I was always happy with just one port. And don't forget the episode maps please, there is no need at all for cramped Q3 wannabe dmm4 maps that make everyone drop the server. :-)

Not sure why, thought about getting a server for less skilled people and a server for more challenging people, not sure how that's implementable though.

And NO WAY I'll remove episode maps from the mappool, they are nostalgy!

Paradoks mentioned the idea of having a redirect feature. If FFA #1 was full, then all who tries to connect would be redirected to FFA #2 etc. I don't know (i don't think) the servers supports this feature though, but it might be something to think about for the future.

A small update on the xs4all servers :
Today the machines are being configurated (sp?), but won't be running before next week friday (the 27th), that day I will try to set up the servers, so with a little bit of luck they might be online the same day.

I have requested several servers, this does NOT mean that it will actually happen:
clanwars.xs4all.nl - allround server (with multiple ports)
quake.xs4all.nl - FFA server (one port as it used to be and one port with the Kenya maps from KTK and FTK)
capflag.xs4all.nl - CTF
carena.xs4all.nl - Clan Arena
rarena.xs4all.nl - Rocket Arena
qtv.xs4all.nl

I'm doubting whether I should use a qizmo port now we have QTV .

flepser, you dont need to have qtv, go with qizmo for rerouting.

It is not wise to connect all the streams directly to Jollen EZ. If that goes down there are no streams available at all. It would be better to connect like this:

XS4ALL MVDSV -> XS4ALL EZTV -> Jollen EZTV

If that's possible. All the other streams should use this too.

The setup I suggested would be more fault tolerant if admins are having their holiday in Cambodia just when servers crash.

Server is up and running, we should be able to login later this day and start installing a qw server.

Ps. what ffa maps should be in?

And less of the totally obscure maps that most people dont know. If you must have those too, why not run a seperate server so people can choose what sort of maps they are going to play. Maybe 1 standard map rotation and other with more custom ones?

Are you guys serious with ukcldm2? I think that it is ugly and has a bad design. Lot's of spawn spots are prepared for camping and the shaft is placed miles away from any spawn so no one ever uses it.

ukcldm2 is a great map. The problem is that it would require at least 7-8players before things get interesting. So might not be the map that will get the party started.

This is why you put ukcldm2 in after a map which will attract a lot of players. This way you have people playing say dm2, then ukcldm2 and all staying because they know something like e1m2 will be next. All planning.

And ukcldm2 is a great map, the shaft is in a good place if you ask me. It's about knowing the map and how to go about doing things.

no fragtwn maps, they are weird
And obviously I fully vote for more custom maps.
Many maps are so very crowded with ~10 players (pkeg1 for example).
