With Quake turning 10 years old this week, the authors of the superb Quakeworld client ezQuake have been working hard to give you all a little bit of a birthday present. After having listened to the feedback provided from the players the new official release of the client will be ready at sunday, which really seems to be the QW day of the week. Among the new features and fixes one can notice a few nifty ones:

* Radar - watch the overall action in the map in Multiview demos and for QTV in future
* Playback of .dem / Quake1 / NetQuake demos
* Advanced camera control for movie making
* Fixed gameclock synchronization on overtime, connection in the middle of the match, match end small desync., and on demo jumps.

These are just a few of a whole bunch of new feature and fixes though so make sure to check them out and keep your eyes open on the download page when sunday is approaching. In the meanwhile you could cheer up the ezQuake developers by saying hi in #ezQuake on Quakenet IRC.

That last quoted fix might seem like a minor one, but it really is annoying when joining in late in a mix and your clock is totally f*cked.

For a quick example of the advanced camera control, check out Nylon's upcoming movie trailer.

I have to admit, one of my favorite (and underrated) fixes is the movement of the word "spectator" to the right in +showscores, so players can see how many minutes specs have been in the game

"reset gamma to default on exit, as MQWCL does; can fix broken gamma after game crashed (VVD)"

thanks for supplying the most modern qw client out there ezquake dev team!
just love to see these small tweaks and fixes but also the big new features that makes this game a whole lot enjoyable

to Peppe:
why would it be in the changelog if it was included before?
some of these features have been in the release candidate of ezquake and should not be confused with official releases (such as this one), if you check the feedback thread banddog reported some issuses with the gamma fix feature, so i guess it wasn't included before the release candidate?

but a while ago I said to someone in #ezquake a demo fucked up ezquake and it froze, all I did was start it and quit the gamma was back to normal, isn't that what this is?

peppe - yes that's the gamma fix. It resets the gamma upon exit/crash if you have vid_hwgammacontrol set to 1.

i've had the same problem with sf for the last couple of days, tried 3-4 different mirrors but get max 8-11kB/s download speed, it's very strange
