I have tried qw on Vista. First I couldnt do anything ingame....seems like I was turning around all the time and I couldnt control it.

After searching on Google I found the Beta Opengl drivers from Nvidia (96_1.33_forceware_winvista_x86_international --> d/l here the drivers ) . Seems that Opengl is not available on Windows Vista. After installing qw worked fine!!!!
But..... the grafics seems not to work correct. The game works fine, but the textures are not as good as in XP, when I stand still it all looks good and sharp, but when I move....grafics looks strange, sharpness disappear......(after playing this 2 minutes I got a little dizzy )

hopefully some people will find the solution for this.....

Anybody already tried QW on Vista...please mention your experience here

Greetings Psy

You know what? Wait until Vista is officially released and decent drivers are made. This might help you...

So, your "solution" will not work I guess...

No, I do think it's good to encourage any new Vista owners to get back into Quakeworld. We'll only give out bad vibes of being old and decrepit if we roll over and say "new windows is new - boooo". People already expect that from Quake players, but I think they'd be impressed if we bring this game into the new generation of windows. Sure, Vista is probably gonna suck donkey balls - but we have to roll with the changes, just like we have in terms of graphics, skills and engines.

this 3rd party opengl drivers will seriously be a problem in my opinion... it will be a while till they get it working properly AND they dont give a crap about it either cause everything is dx based now.. they prolly think "if u wanna play something old, format ur machine and install windows 98 !!"

im sticking with XP until i get a good set of drivers and a satisfactory ogl support...

Hello, i installed the new Nvidia drivers, because ezquake did not run. After the installation of the new drivers ezquake did not run again.
Suddenly i tried a older version of GL-ezquake (because fuhquake run without any problems) and it run and run
The build is 1517.
Windows Vista 64bit (original version of course!) + gl-ezquake build 1517 works perfect now!!!

I heard that vista will be a real nazi OS that prevents you from doing loads of stuff, so there are reasons. I think their intention was to stop piracy etc, but i realized it's going to be a real pain in the ass after i got some info from a friend. :}

I have a question about Vista. Does it have mouse acceleration problems like Windows XP does? A friend told me he couldn't get rid of it.
