Hymn of Hope is finally back with 2on2 tournament!
The wait has been long, announcements have been delayed and people have started wondering if Hymn of Hope ever was to return. Finally - here it is!

The Hymn of Hope crew are pleased to announce another tournament, this time in the 2on2 format, and with a revamped system...
This time around, the tournament will not be held on a single day, nor a single weekend. In order to avoid gaming on a Saturday, we have decided to divide the tournament into two different Sundays. This means that the tournament will be played on two days, but two different Sundays. Hopefully this will prevent drunken dropouts and still allow people to go out drinking on Friday/Saturday.

Another change this time around is that we will no longer be using the homepage we used in the past. Instead, we will be using the QuakeWorld.nu forums for signups to the tournament. Brackets will be hosted on blaps.se, which belongs to one of the admins. The system will be very simple and easily understood so that even the most inexperienced players will be able to sign up and play in the tournament.

Unfortunately, there's another big change to the tournament. Due to real life reasons and job situations, Zingao will no longer administrate the tournament. This, along with lack of donations, means that there no longer will be a prize pool. It is with regret that we have to announce that we are unable to provide a satisfying prize pool for the tournament anymore. However, the show must go on and we are very happy to be able to host another tournament, albeit without prize pool.

So, what about some information about the tournament?

Date
Sunday 28th of October and Sunday the 4th of November. Please note that the tournament will be played on two separate days, not an entire week. We want to avoid playing for many hours on a Saturday and thus we put it on two separate Sundays.

Format
2on2, double elimination. This means that there will be a losers-bracket. You are guaranteed at least two rounds no matter if you lose.

How do I sign my team up?
Signing up is EASY! All you need to do is to get a 2on2 partner and write your teamname and members in the corresponding thread here on quakeworld.nu.

Quicklink to the sign-up thread: SIGN UP THREAD, SIGN UP HERE!!!

Sign-ups will close on Wednesday the 24th at 23:59!

More information about brackets and exact times will follow the coming weeks!

The Hymn of Hope crew hope to be able to provide yet another high quality tournament for you, the community!

Sincerely yours,
Hymn of Hope Crew

@Dirtbox:
It was announced very long ago that this tournament would be 2on2. Of course this does not mean that the next tournament won't be 1on1!

I suspected that blowing all cash on one tournament was a bad idea. When a concept is new, it's much easier to generate interrest (and donations). Relying on Zingao to keep the cash pool up to par with the last tourney was just bad planning.

But anyway, it's imo a good initiative running the tourney now rather than waiting for Zingao. It's always very appreciated when people spend their time on organizing QW events to keep the scene interresting at a competetive level. I'm not much of a TDM player myself, but with SD and TVS as the first 2 signed up teams I'm looking forward to follow some hot 2on2 action. Go HoH!
