Additional news on Hymn of Hope
The first edition of the Hymn of Hope tournament has come to an end, and we got to see Rikoll take first place, with bps being the runner-up, and Kingpin third.

Now is your chance to give feedback on the tournament. It does not matter whether you were a spectator or a player, any feedback is very appreciated by the Hymn of Hope crew!

"The Hymn of Hope crew has shown a few ideas thus far, those including;

Single elimination instead of double elimination
Considering that the tournament is so short, we feel that having a losers bracket messes things up. The losers bracket this time didn't fall that far behind, but we feel that almost too many games were played. Thoughts on this? Head over to the feedback on the tournament-thread and give your comments/ideas.

One day tournament instead of two
Naturally, alot of quakers enjoy partying. It has been felt that this could be a contributing factor to drop-outs and walk-overs. Therefore it has been discussed whether the tournament should be held on a single day (with single-elimination, this will be easier to do) instead of over the whole weekend. That way, players only need to sacrifice a single day of the weekend for quake. Do you think that's something the majority of quakers could do? Head over to the feedback on the tournament-thread and give your comments/ideas.

Later start-time
Alot of people showed up late, so perhaps 12:00 CEST is too early on a weekend? Head over to the feedback on the tournament-thread and give your comments/ideas.

Improved stream
Even though most of us believe QuakePhil's stream is awesome, we will try to have designers help out with nice between-games logos and pictures to improve the viewing experience for all spectators. What do you think needs to be improved on the stream? Head over to the feedback on the tournament-thread and give your comments/ideas.

Any other ideas of what we could improve? Please help us make this tournament even better by giving us feedback!

Within a few days, more information will come about the next edition which is to be held in May. The May edition will feature more prizemoney (thanks to all the donators), and we hope for even more sign-ups!

Stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone that participated. It was an exciting and exhausting sunday, with many fun moments and good stream with different commentators! Looking forward to next edition.

Single elimination sounds like the way to go, perhaps with group games aswell? At least it makes for a more coherent structure which should be easier to shedule compared to double elimination.

Not sure about the tournament starting too early - how many WO's were there in each day on saturdy and sunday?

Also, hotting up the stream is nice if it's easily done but shouldn't be a very high priority. More pause music is welcome in between the games though, gives it more of a "show feeling".

the brackets are a pain to browse, would be fun to see the scores of each game

HoH is the best thing happening to qw in a long time! Keep it up.

(Is there anyway to make the stream look better? Like at least 60fps and HD? To get a smooth experience for those not usnig QTV?)

I can do 60 fps on the stream, but very few people can decode that fast. I'm already getting a lot of people telling me it runs slow for them, and its at "just" 30 fps right now. It runs fine on my PC and laptops.

Ideally, I would like a 60 fps super high def 3000-3500 kbps stream, and then twitch.tv can automatically create lower quality 2000 kbps and maybe sub-1000 kbps stream-copies, that users can just select like 720p, 480, etc. But this is up to twitch.tv to enable.

Also a little birdy told me that Zalon has a lot of stream doo-dads that I think I could use, slap him

Also - really enjoyed the event, even though it was a bit early for my timezone, and I was unable to participate on saturday in particular because of that. But really hot games, except the grand final which showed that when it matters, Rikoll is too damn hot. (No offense to his opponents...)

I could name some name(s) absent from the tournament that could have maybe given him a run for his money. But I'm not gonna

the only way to really improve it is if Milton signs up

So, where is the demopack?
2012-04-17, 09:43
Not sure there will be a demo-pack, however there are VODs that will be up shortly (the entire show is up already, but hasn't been cut yet)
2012-04-17, 12:24
Demo pack should be fixed for next HoH.

I would also like to receive an e-mail reminding me of this event a day before the tournament.

I had no idea this was taking place.
