bdk interview
14 Jul 2007 @ 21:33 by se sassa
Got hold of bdk wiki for an interview concerning the Ignition wiki tourney and how it is to be a rookie today in the world of QW.

#1 Hi and welcome to Quakeworld.nu, can you tell a bit about yourself in IRL?
Hiho, I'm 21 year old law student from Poland. What else can i say, I've never played games for a living. I enjoy competition. I got liberal world-view.

#2 How did you start getting into QW?
I was bored with q3 a bit and I came into idea of trying qw. Moreover I've read about ignition and i thought it may be good opportunity to start.

#3 What kind of problems did you have when you just started playing?
It was generally different "feeling". I wasn't able to hit with a rocket properly and switch weapons fast moreover commands are a bit different. After a week I got used to and now playing qw is more like pleasure than pain in the ass. Ah, forgot about weapon scripts for teamplay - these I will never get used to :A

#4 What can we improve to make the way of getting into QW easier?
Not much can be done more I think. Keep up the good job :D

#5 What´s the global differences between QW and your old game (community, teamplay, gameplay etc..) ?
Community surprisingly is big enough to have decent fun. Hmm, teamplay is a bit more sophisticated. Gameplay is fast paced and this is what I was looking for - there's a lot of spamming on variety of maps which is cool as well.

#6 If I was a beginner and wanted to play quake, what 5 things would you say to me?
1. Sign up to leagues and tourneys dedicated for rookies.
2. go to #qwrookie, quakeworld.nu
3. loosing is ok
4. loosing more is even better
5. watch demos.

#7 How are the opponents on the servers, is it easy to reach other rookies to play vs? (do we need some rookie servers?)
Yes, with #qwrookie and tourneys going on it's quite easy to get suitable opponent. Maybe one or two rookie servers would be ok(1 for tdm, 1 for duels).

#8 You are participating in Ignition and are up vs salt_katt in the Loosers-bracket Round 1, what kind of method will you use to beat an Ignition admin?
I'll use my sneaky-drunk style to get on his back. But seriously I'll try my best to outplay him using my aim because I think he knows maps better than me. :>

#9 Free Thursday kenya is up on Thursday, will you compete in it?
I'm not sure. But I'll surely participate if not busy :)
