the legend of ff is still a living memory to me.....man those dudes from umea could play 4v4! and to think they did it all with qwcl + qizmo

strangely, though, no one has mentioned hib.....undoubtably one of the finest tdm players ever.

my question is: who is/was the most explosive player ever? janne? def? pietro? para? sparky? reppie? grffn? sod? fix?

To recite two of my most memorable events:

1999. TrueGamers Invitational (TGI) QW duel compo:

1. Oskar 'Lakerman' Ljungström (Swe)
2. Benjamin 'Kane' Reichert (Germ)
3. Sectopod (Oslo, Norway)
4. Colombo (Denmark)

Add to that Stalin and Warrior (of CAC), who were generally better than Sectopod
at the time.

1998. Death Row (US) vs. Clan Nine (Swe). Team Deathmatch:

1. Clan Nine (Swe): Paralyzer, Xenon, Spice, Nikodemus, DOOMer, and Okkun
2. Death Row (U.S.): Thresh, Unholy, B2, Reptile, Frick, and Da5id

reload? locktar? =)

Btw when talking about best players of all time that means ALL TIME, so many modern div8 noobs could give Lakerman problems in 1on1 and maybehaps some of today's div2 clans could deal with Clan Nine, Death Row, and Clan Z combined or something...just saying that Hib for president...

well i played from 96 to present, but with an offline (bots only) gap from 2000-2005. My list will be alot different. Mainly because the international scene wasnt focused on enough when i used to play, so mainly on the uk scene and obviously any legends we heard of. however I've seen and heard alot of those I do mention.

No particular order:

1. Thresh
2. Sujoy
3. Dag
4. Paradoks
5. Shelob (old old uk player, but was well ahead of everyone else at the time and inspired me alot)
6. Reppie
7. Razor
8. Lakerman
9. Griffin
10. Interceptor

Now the list could be huge if not limited to 10

Players that have had a major impact on my game whether big or not include Amok, Grindking, all of JAMS , Jak-swan and Gibby to name a few.

Hmm. When I've asked questions like this before I've usually split things up into eras, but this time around I'm just gonna throw down some names from down the years in a kinda random fashion. More than 10, this is just a general list of players who come to mind when I think back over my time playing Quake.

-Fix. Brutal in 4v4, very solid player who can win matches on his own.
-Reverend. Godlike dm3 play, only got noticed as a top player by the mainstream community fairly recently following his move to FOM. I always felt he could have stepped up a level a bit sooner rather than hanging around with his buddy Znappe, but there you go. I won't forget the fact he used to cheat though
-Dare. Perfect rockets (so many 1-shotters vs spawns) and very good at holding positions - especially gl on e1m2. Nice to see a player who can be effective while retaining an 'oldschool' style of play.
-Reload. Incredible speed of thought coupled with devasting aim. A very fun player to watch.
-Manulito. Has a very similar vision of TP to me, he's the perfect teammate. In some ways playing a mix with him is better than some clans I've played in Great example of how you can be a top player without div0 aim/movement.
-Jimbob. Probably will be unknown outside of the UK or some older players, he was one of my main heroes back when I was learning the game. Had excellent movement at a time when bunnyhopping was still relatively uncommon.
-Trinidy. Opened my eyes as to how fast 4v4 could be played
-Pietro. 'nuff said, an extension of the above
-Hib. Brutal quadrunner.
-Shiva. One of the the few swedes who doesn't moan about lag and can dominate games even with a 'bad' ping.
-Gamer. Very versatile, he can do almost anything on 4v4 either in defence or attack. Also a nice guy and I was pleased to see him fulfil the potential I saw in him at KOFF back in 2001.
-Dag. Good allround player who plays in a very 'pro' manner in terms of ensuring victory. I wouldn't say he was my top 4on4 player anymore, but across 1v1/2v2/4v4 there aren't many better.
-ParadokS. Not many players have stayed at the top without taking a break for as long as him.
-Milton. When at the top of his game he is unstoppable. Would be interesting to see what he could do in a 'top' clan.
-Carna. Whatever happened to him?
-Nabbe. As in "HangTime, LA has a really nice team, except for this Nabbe guy, why don't they put someone better in?!?" (c) Sassa 2003. Awesome shaft (as I found out firsthand when he played with Lithium in 2001) and a very effective e1m2 player.
-Griffin. Not a huge fan of duels, but I check out his demos from time to time.
-Fifi. Used to be my favourite Finnish player, but he sucks now. Shame.

As for xhrl's question, the most explosive? Hmm. Milton, Riker, Hib, Fix or Reppie. From the past, I'd say aKKe or Rock.

I think its weird thah hib isnt mentioned more either. He was great. I will only list 4on4 players who were active after 2002.

Hib
Reppie
Valla
Nabbe
Shiva
Fix

I think these 6 players have been a bit above all other players sometime over the last 4 years.
