Hi all,
I'm messing around with some very early map concepts. Part of this is based on the QL map 'Elder' which lets players pick up a gold key to access areas of the map. At a first glance, it looks like keys (silver & gold) never respawn in multiplayer QW. Sigils might respawn, but I'm getting weird crashing when I try to use them.
Has anyone ever tried stuff like this? Am I wasting my time? Let me know what you can!

Are sigils the same as runes? If so then at least the CTF mod seems to work with them just fine:

The behaviour of keys and sigils/runes (same thing) in the default qwprogs.dat may differ to KTX and other mods. You could look at the touch function in the QuakeC of whatever mod you intend it to be played in to see what exactly how they behave when picked up

Well, my hope is to just make a regular ol' duel map that runs in ktx 1on1 (like aerowalk, ztndm3 etc). So if keys/sigils aren't exactly usable I probably have to just cope with it..?

There aren't any alternative way to make 1 player have an advantage item to use to open af door ? ProjectQ1Q3, Frogbot Waypoint and Map Conversion Tutorial @ http://mickkn.mooo.com

There aren't any alternative way to make 1 player have an advantage item to use to open af door ? This is an ugly option and not exactly what you're looking for, but maybe do something like the "zediit" trick map, where you need a specific weapon to unlock things and complete each section? Section 2 only unlocks obstacles with SNG, 3 with RL, 4 with GL, and 5 with LG. If the SNG isn't part of your map then perhaps you can add it and it becomes like a "key" to unlock your door.

Not sure if any dudes who map for MP are on it but they sure know a lot of tricks

Not sure if any dudes who map for MP are on it but they sure know a lot of tricks those guys are extremely talented. They should make a multiplayer map competition... never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.
