I have a 17" TFT panel, I get no ghosting at all but I do experience some tearing when moving at fast speeds, which can be quite annoying. I'm used to it now. Xerial has a 19" and he loves it.

I've got a Samsung 8ms 19" TFT... appears absolutely fine tbh. If it is ghosting I aint noticed it. I switched from always using CRTs at Christmas and had the some worries about ghosting also... but no worries here

I got my hands of a 17" Dell screen to try it out, it quite good in windows, but alot of ghosting in games and black wasn't really black. But recently I bought a BenQ 19" FP93GX 2ms, I don't see any ghosting and i am really picky with this sort of things, Black is more black then the Dell but still not the same as a CRT. But i really like this screen, to bad i have 1 dead pixel :<

mine can be set to 1280x1024 @ 76 hz max, it will cuz some tearing cuz of the low hz but thats just a mather of playing with that setup for a couple of days.

1280x1024 76hz 232 fps is kinda smooth

No, not like with CRTs.

CRT's refreshrate means how many times the whole screen is drawn/updated on every second. If you have 75Hz refreshrate selected then your whole screen (all pixels) are drawn 75 times per second, always, regardless of the fps you're getting in games/videos/etc.

With LCDs the whole screen isn't necessarily redrawn/update but only the pixels that have changed will be updated. This means that if a pixel isn't changed, it's state will not change (ie. it is not updated/refreshed) therefore LCDs will not flicker like CRTs. So if you have 75Hz capable LCD, it means that your monitor is capable of drawing 75 updated pixels per second.

This means that even if you have 1ms panel, it still wouldn't be capable of displaying 1000 frames per second since the updates/drawn pixels on screen is limited to that "refreshrate" your LCD panel has. Of course low latency panels decrease the amount of ghosting so it's recommended to try to get one with low latency.

ghosting is like when you take a picture with a slow camera, you'll get "ghosts"
this happens with flat-screens too, if you draw your mouse quickly over the table the models will leave ghosts.

my samsung syncmaster 913n @ 8 ms rules anyhow, no problems what so ever with tearing... had a few quakers here, and 9/10 says it's fine, and the tenth person had a little to whine about, but anyhow - u'll get used to that "possible" slight tearing
