I'm new here, some could have seen me and maybe not.
Every time I play quake I get packet loss usually around 6-15.
I have tried cl_earlypackets on and off with cl_delay_packet 1-10.
I use ezQuake with only a hud and crosshairs.
This is the only game that I have a problem with internet, other games like TF2, TF classic, and source games are fine.
I have comcast, I'm not really happy with them but its the only practical one that's in my area.
Ping in servers are around 30-60, its pretty smooth but the PL is an obvious disadvantage.
If anyone could help me out, it would be much appreciated!

What happens if you do a ping qw.foppa.dk -t in a command prompt (for your normal server preferably), will it show any packetloss then if you let it run for a couple of minutes and then ctrl-c to get the summary? (i guess it's not likely as you say it's fine in the other games, but just to be sure...)

This is what I got, but for some reason the loss still continues in quake.

The packet loss has gone down to 1-4, but not down to 0.
It's ultimately better than what it was, but I think I should be getting a constant 0.

errr, nope, that's not a very reliable way to know if you have some real packet loss.
Try downloading WinMTR - it's a very simple freeware utility for the same purposes. Specify interval to 0,1 seconds in options and set ping size to, let's say, 64000 bytes.

Paste the result here, maybe we can conclude something then.

This way we can test how your connection behaves under load. Obviously, quakeworld doesn't need much, but if the problem is in your line then it'll show.

Welcome to the USA, land of lost packets! I think the problem is that you should be using your Internet connection for e-mail and light web browsing instead of trying to play online games.

Anyway, are you sure it isn't just the servers? I've been seeing plenty of players getting tons of packet loss to NA servers lately. Altogether I'd say that the USA is a third-world country when it comes to proper Internet connections. :>
