There's a feature in EZquake to recalculate fov and screen proportions for a 16:10 monitor. I have a 16:9 monitor, which raises some problems. I can calculate vid_conheight and vid_conwidth using this article http://wiki.quakeworld.nu/Widescreen_Guide, but I don't know how to recalculate FOV. Does that same formula work for 16:9 monitors as well as 16:10?

In the fov formula, use 48/36 for 16:9 monitors. I'll update the article to contain 16:9 stuff too.

(for 16:10 it is 48/40, for 5:4 it is 15/16)

Thread moved to advanced configuration.

Renzo, thanks, trying to understand this

Is it a must that "vid_conwidth is 853 and vid_conheight is 480" on 16:9? Can I set it to anything I want as long as the ratio is still 16:9? If the answer to that question is yes, does that mean changing the value will give make a particular FOV look differently?

What I'm trying to do for my setup is run 1024 x 768 resolution on my widescreen 1366 x 768 monitor. So although I'm using a 4:3 resolution I believe I have to change vid_conwidth and vid_conheight for 16:9

No. Yes. No.

Yes, but you are probably better off letting the monitor use its native resolution.
