Hi there,

It's been a while since i played qw, so I decided to give it a go again and downloaded ezquake 1.9.3. After having installed it I'm experiencing some strange issues with the graphics (see the screenshots)

Screenshot 1: http://www.knudtskov.dk/ezquake003.jpg
Screenshot 2: http://www.knudtskov.dk/ezquake004.jpg
Screenshot 3: http://www.knudtskov.dk/ezquake005.jpg

My graphic card is a ATI Radeon X1950 256M

My command line is this: ezquake-gl.exe -zone 1024 -ruleset smackdown +set cl_confirmquit 0 +set vid_displayfrequency 75 -noforceparms -noforcemspd -noforcemaccel -noscripts -width 1280 -height 1024 -conwidth 320 -conheight 240 -bpp 32 -dinput -mem 32 +cfg_load yan

My config file is here http://www.knudtskov.dk/yan.cfg

I've tried the following to resolve the issue, but none of it helped:
Installed the latest driver for the ATI Radeon X1950
Tried different monitors
Tried other clients fuhquake/normal glquake (they wore just even worse with the issue)
Tried running without commandline and default configuration
Tried a clean install of ezquake

If anyone knows how to fix this or has an idea, please speakup :-)

Kind regards
Yan (eclipse)

Firstly, qw doesn't really like recent ati drivers. I'm running 6.12 myself because anything later really kills performance on dynamic lighting.

But, if you're not rolling back drivers because you still play lots of current games, then just set gl_ztrick 0. You take a slight framerate hit, but it's not that bad.

Thanks a lot Stev, gl_ztrick 0 did the trick for me. I guess I'll rollback the older drivers later on.

Hmm, they seem to have disappeared from the legacy section of the ATI site, which is quite annoying as everything past 7.0 is broken horribly.

Thank god for the backup power of the internet! Here's a link to 6.12 for Windows XP 32-bit (I'm assuming that's what you're running, but you could find alternate versions with a quick google).

Thanks for that, I have a buddy who has a crashy ATI card and have been looking for a set of old drivers for him.
