If I correctly understand you, you're connecting to the Internet but the wireless connection is just too crappy. Is that right?

What is that "or cable" connect actually? Is it working okay but you cannot use it permanently?

Anyway, you can use wlan antennas to extend the range or improve the quality of your wireless connection, if needed. Best thing, you can easily build them yourself without a lot of material or expenses. I only have construction manuals in German but I'm sure you can easily find them in English too:

that's not what i asked. but thanks anyway i guess
you understood me almost, 'cable' = just cat-cable from my pc to the router
and yes the connection is bad but i can move the router around to get a better signal easier than moving my PC

I don't think so, see:

You might be able to pick up a different cheapo wireless bridge from somewhere for not that much though...

If your house can see your friends house, and you don't mind spending some money, check this out: http://www.wifi-tech.com/wtd2424g.htm.

If you do mind spending money then the best thing you can do is get a job ;-) It is possible to increase the strength of the wireless signal from your friend's access point by increasing the voltage - I did it to an old AP (more luck than judgement) but it died after a short while ;-)

A quick google shows wireless bridges for £25-£40 - could be a reasonably cheap option. (you can do your own currency conversions)
