http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_Z9gfEUnw8 I instantly liked that qwlook when I saw it now Im wondering if anyone could help me get the explosion! BANG! also the fullbrightskin for packs would be nice. other than that Ive managed to get it by myself.

hehe, explsions use sprites animation in q1, so it just modified sprite file, I guess.

just make a quick old fashioned particle font, sprites are animated and eh... here... just edit the particle for the explosion in your quake... (cant remember the actual name enferno.jpg?) hmm actually this gives me an idea for r_simpleitems (which ezquake still needs!) This also reminds me of a project someone made when they replaced the SOUNDS with actual VOICEd-OVER ones, BANG, BOOM, ARRRRGH! etc... lol!

just create next files with desired image in textures/sprites

ah, and r_explosiontype 1 required, since this type use srpite for fire visualisation.

it's the explotions he was looking for I haven't tried the pak vegetous linked, but a particlefont is all you need to change r_explosiontype 1. That's probably all dobbz's pak is, but whatever. Edit: Just tried the one purplehaze linked, it's not exactly the same as the one from the video.

I tested it too, and it's exactly the ones from the video, and it also include all of dobbz other custom gfx with his nice comic look. The files for the explosions is in textures/sprites of the pak and is called s_explod_[0-6].png, but they do not work with particle explosions. To be able to use them, get the pak, put it in x:\quake\qw\dobbz.pak add it to the bottom of your pak.lst (ez 1.8.3b) or paks.lst (ez 1.9b). Then load up qw and enter set these options: r_explosiontype 1 // sets the explosions to fire only gl_part_explosions 0 // disables the particle engine for explosions, and uses sprites instead For a quick test just use the "Faithfull" preset in the options->graphics menu. [note to ezQuake devs, please think of us who are switching between versions and go back to pak.lst, instead of this nonsense]

I never said I had any interest in testing or using the file vegetous linked. I just noticed purplehaze posted a particlefont.png, was called an ass monkey at the zoo, and someone said the author of the topic was looking for the explosion. A particlefont.png does change the look of r_explosiontype 1 (with gl_part_explosions 1, as you mentioned). I believed vegetous' was real, but I checked out purplehaze's link and just said it wasn't the same as the one in the clip, which can explain why SputnikUtah made that comment

geee whizzz you're right its the same concept but not the one in the video. it has comic style effects for everything in the particlefont instead of just the explosion sprites. dobbz may not even be the author it might be fun to try anyway. no big deal It Takes A Tough Man To Make A Tender Rocketjump

[note to ezQuake devs, please think of us who are switching between versions and go back to pak.lst, instead of this nonsense] This has already been corrected, just download a more recent alpha release. Pak s wasn't used in the beta but in one of the alpha/nightly releases, you must have been very unlucky since it was only there for a couple of days =)
