Avenger takes on Locust
13 Nov 2009 @ 21:40 by se zappater
After an amazing winner's bracket final between Locktar wiki and Avenger wiki we now have a just as amazing loser's bracket final between Locust wiki and Avenger coming up. The game will be played this Sunday at 22:00 CET.

http://blaps.se/qw/bracket_500px.jpg

The match between Locktar and Avenger went into five maps with Aerowalk going into overtime twice! If you missed the game you can either download the demos or watch the VODs provided by Tastyspleen in cooperation with QuakeWorld.nu. Scores of the game can be found over at Ownage.

Following up on this will be a loser's bracket final between Locust and Avenger, a match that will be covered by Tastyspleen just as the Avenger versus Locktar game. It will be played on Sunday at 22:00 CET/4.00 PM EST.

Avenger doesn't need an introduction now that he took Locktar into five maps but for those of you who speak polish it might be interesting to note that he is a part of the QuakeWorld.pl crew, a Polish site dedicated to QuakeWorld with a lot of interesting projects. Make sure you give them a visit.

Locust is another player that shouldn't need an introduction but if you do not know who he is this Swede has long been feared for his LG as well as mastery of DM4 and Aerowalk. He recently participated at Dreamhack Summer, a tournament where he placed 5-8 after losing to Locktar in the quarterfinals.

Kwibus: Fear not, it was recorded - http://tastyspleen.tv/?p=433

Was the stream coverage diffrent from mummble last time, or was this the same? Also, if there is going to be mummble, I think it should get more exposure. Last time mummble room was almost empty (at least when I joined, already after dm2 had started).
#7 pl NeFuRii | 15 Nov 2009 @ 18:52
Btw, i've started watching that stream recording. Is there no option to choose high/low quality? Its hard to watch it in so low quality and few frames per second. It's like a bit fast pixelated slide show...
#8 de Wulfen | 15 Nov 2009 @ 19:02
yes, the Stream is very low quality, too low.
#9 us Jehar | 15 Nov 2009 @ 21:21
I only have a limited amount of bandwidth to pump these out, so that's what it'll be like for a little while. In the next month or two I should be moving to an area with a better upload connection. Here, I'm limited to 860kbit up.
#10 ke dEus | 15 Nov 2009 @ 21:36
well keep us updated Jehar. the streaming and commentary is definitely appreciated. more bitrate can never hurt but i already enjoy watching the show very much.
#11 pl NeFuRii | 15 Nov 2009 @ 22:30
Good commentary non the less . I still think that mummble needs more exposure. not many people on it
#12 nl Kwibus | 16 Nov 2009 @ 07:34
These guys should be announced on ESR for example. I'm sure there are plenty of people interested in a top qw duel.

"These guys should be announced on ESR for example. I'm sure there are plenty of people interested in a top qw duel."

That is possible for any of the ~1000(?) active QW players to do. Anyone can write an article or a news item and if it's interesting enough they will major it. If more people just could be arsed putting in that little effort...
#14 de Wulfen | 16 Nov 2009 @ 19:12
hey Jehar,

i dont mean your bandwith, i mean your Graphic Settings looks like crap ^^
#15 ke dEus | 16 Nov 2009 @ 19:28
it's because of the low bitrate wulfen. if you have low upstream it's better to use simple textures than detailed settings that only get washed out and look even more crappy and confusing in the end.

Kwibus unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time this weekend so I couldn't get a news item for esreality up. And the match before that I forgot. The grand final will be promoted on EsReality however.
#17 nl Kwibus | 17 Nov 2009 @ 18:07
Great zap! I could also make a newsitem of it according to Ake so I'll keep that in mind for future events.
