I'm a bit saddened by the lack of interest in this tournament, I went to the summer event and had a blast, meeting up with fellow quakers - both those I knew already and those I had never met before. That was really worth the travel, on top of that, the atmosphere at DreamHack is really just something one has to experience - and then to end it all in the DreamArena Extreme with Nabbe and LocKtar playing on stage, and seeing people with no affiliation with quakeworld cheering for them, that was really something.

Another great part was the time spent there when we weren't playing, going to Scandic for drinks, crashing Åke's place and going swimming. It was all very social also outside of the game.

Zaloon, agreed! Dreamhack is a really nice event actually its really sad people dont show more intrest, cus its really worth it! So bring ur friends and play some quake=) or just spectate some good games!

Totally agree with all the above. DH might have some bad reputation like "there's only 15 years old cs nerds" but nevermind that small part of it all. The people at the QW area is social and fun people, it's always a pleasure to be there. The only bad thing I can say about DH is the stupid map removing rule which has been standard all from the start:
"- During the groupstage both players will remove one map each from the maplist."
Afaik this is something that always confuses participants. Admins, I plee to you, change this rule from "remove" to "pick".

Bps is right! Dronar take this in consideration:>
#5 se zappater | 11 Nov 2009 @ 16:32
Ye it was awesome during the summer, I'll be there I just doubt I'll have the time to play QW as I plan to cover everything. But we will see.
#6 se Ake Vader | 11 Nov 2009 @ 17:02
I also had a great time during the last event, we'll see if i can participate this time. It won't be much party at my place though as my apartment will just be filled with boxes as i'm moving between apartments :<

But i'm always up for a norrländsk fjällbäck and some cremé brylé @ Scandic!
#7 se Ake Vader | 11 Nov 2009 @ 17:03
Perhaps there will be some hardcore party at the friday one way or another though as the tournament ends there?
#8 dk Zalon | 11 Nov 2009 @ 17:04
Blaze (the q2 dude), is in charge of the qw tournament - I remember asking him for summer about the "toss first then pick rule", and he said they would keep it to make their tournament a bit different than what we usually have. But I'm sure if players show interest in changing this, they probably will.

Btw zapp, if you find my camera - I have lots of dh summer pictures on it

Also the whole "there's only 15 years old cs nerds" - If the area is like summer, then thats not gonna be a problem, because then it's just gonna be QuakeLive players running around the tournament area.
#9 ns fed | 11 Nov 2009 @ 18:03
What are the actual rules then? Does each player choose one map they want to play, or does each player choose one map they do not want to play?

And then, how is it decided what maps to be played/not played and in which order in the grand final?

Also, what about customizing the ezQ client? like own files for textures et.c?
#10 se zappater | 11 Nov 2009 @ 19:00
Own files like textures is no problem, or wasn't at summer at least you just have to bring them with you on a USB stick or make sure you got them uploaded somewhere.
The system they use is first each player drops a map then they pick one with the last map being decider. In the grand final the players just pick every other map.

I also think the admins have been very reasonable regarding custom configuration in the past events, which is good.
